Your Social Media Activity Could Cost You Your Dream Job. Really?

Agree or Disagree.
Prospective employers should examine a prospective employee's social media activity and make hiring decisions based on their activity.

On the one hand, some people use social media to find their dream job.  On the other hand, some people's use of social media might cost them their dream job.  Potential employers are using social media as part of a screening process for hiring.

On my side of the fence??
I don't know about everybody else but this sounds creepy.  I mean ... I'm not checking my potential employer's personal social media activity.  How do I know my potential employer is not a pervert or psycho?

This doesn't impact me as a job seeker because I'm not seeking employment BUT!!!  ... Huge BUT!!! ... But I have children who are seeking employment and who are or who will be applying for jobs.
