A Character Study of Florence Nightingale

In 1859, Florence Nightingale was the first to set out guidelines for ethical nursing practice. She wrote: “It may seem a strange principle to enunciate as the very first requirement in a Hospital is to do the sick no harm …”

(NOTE: It's not a strange principle. It's a sad principle. Some strange people need a guideline expressed in very plain language in the hopes that it pricks their conscience (if they have one) so that they don't take advantage of the sick and do them harm. I do wonder if Ms. Nightingale actually witnessed an incident that compelled her to write down these words.)

May 12th is International Nurses Day. This special day has been celebrated since 1965. The date was chosen because it is the B-Day (birthday of Florence Nightingale, a pioneer in healthcare and health reform, and the mother of modern nursing. Because of her efforts in the field of nursing, many others did not have to experience their own personal D-Day (day of death).

I have always been taught to admire and respect this woman, but never really learned very much about her. Decided to collect a few more facts about this remarkable lady and learned two things about her that were news to me.

- Did not know she was a mathematical genius? Although that really comes as no surprise. She was, in fact, a very gifted child and excelled in mathematics and science.

- Did not know she believed that she was called by God? That, too, really comes as no surprise. Most people who defy the norms of their day, particularly women, and determine to set out on a specific path or chart a course despite the objections or opposition or great peril to one's life, to achieve anything, are usually driven by a voice that nobody else can hear except them. They firmly believe that they have been called to their mission or task that they can not be dissuaded because it would violate their conscience, and they would genuinely feel that the failure to respond to the calling would be like a betrayal to mankind.

So here is little Miss Nightingale, born into a family with sufficient financial means to educate her and develop her knowledge, skills, and abilities, and prepare her for her life's work. She grows to womanhood, and there is a sea of humanity outside her door where she can put this real wealth to good use.

Those voices could not be ignored. Not by her anyway.

What are Some Historic Events You Lived Through?

I am an old lady with a Tumblr account and I can tell the Tumblr community has a lot of young people. I stumbled across a post and the person was saying they were very upset about living through a historic event RIGHT NOW. It was a reference to our 2024 presidential elections.  (Visit my Tumblr.)  But then I thought to myself:  How many historic events have I lived through?


Let me think. I've lived through:

1. Introduction of new technology: Television (50s) and Internet (90s)
2. 3 assassinations – John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr.
3. 3 POTUS Impeachments – Richard Nixon, Bill Clinton, and Donald Trump (impeached twice)

5. Neil Armstrong walked on the moon
6. Richard Speck - 1st serial killer or mass murderer I knew about
7. The Vietnam War and “Flower Power”
8. Iran-Contra Affair
9. Fall of the Berlin Wall
10. Oklahoma City Bombing
11. Sept 11th Attack
12. Death of Osama bin Laden and several other high-profile terrorists
13. COVID-19 Pandemic
14. January 6 Capitol Riot
15. Yom Kippur War in 1973 & 50 years later same conflict, same people, on Yom Kippur AGAIN!
16. Several Landmark Supreme Court Decisions from Roe v Wade to the overturning of Roe V Wade

Health : Note to Self : What Don't Make You Sexy Might Kill You!

What does Spanish Fly, chocolate, and Mandrakes have in common?  They are all associated with SEX!  What makes Spanish Fly different?  Uhh ... it might kill you!

Practical Advice: Life Choices You Won’t Regret

In my life there have been many choices I made and I have absolutely no regrets. What about you? 


We are going into another new year and despite the fact that this year has been OVERLOADED with difficulties and sadness … the world keeps turning! And unless you have figured out a way to stop the world so you can get off … you’re going to keep carrying on.

I found an interesting article by a guy named Thomas Oppong. He’s kind of like a motivational speaker type and gives people advice to help them Stay Calm and Carry On. He wrote an article titled You Will Regret These Choices in 10 Years and … honestly? If I made those choices I would regret them the next day! It wouldn’t take me 10 years. I’m a quick learner.

According to Mr. Oppong, these are the choices you will regret.

1) Waiting for a Perfect Time

2) Waiting to Be Picked

3) Living Someone Else’s Dream

4) Failing to Try

5) Giving Up Too Soon!

I have lived and made it past the half century mark (50 years). The minister at my church say: “No matter what anybody tells you, when you go past 50 your life is HALF OVER!” How’s that for realistic thinking?

It’s true your life is half over but you are still living and that means each day you wake up … it’s a brand new day. Who knows what you will accomplish … IF YOU TRY!

I won’t have regrets about making the choices this guy listed because they are not choices I would ever make in the first place.

1) Waiting for a Perfect Time ~ Hello! What is a “perfect time”? Yes. Timing is important. Some people say “Timing is everything”. But I don’t think it’s EVERYTHING! Rather, I agree with Bruce Lee’s philosophy. He said “If you love life, don’t waste time, because time is what life is made of.” If I approach my daily life with that kind of attitude there’s no way I’m going to … wait for it! Wait for what? Once the time is gone, I’m not going to get it back!

2) Waiting to Be Picked ~ Uuuhh? Who’s doing the picking? The only time I’m waiting to be picked is when I will be standing in line waiting to be called to enter in through the gates of heaven. LOL.

3) Living Someone Else’s Dream ~ How do you even know someone else’s dream? If you have overbearing dominating parents who insist on making you live their dream, then I can see where this might be a problem for a child. Fortunately, my parents never tried to force me to live up their “dream”. They did do their best to try to make sure that I would be able to pursue my dream.

4) Failing to Try ~ Look at this way. From the time you begin to know yourself, practically everything you do in your life, you have to try to do it first. You have to try to crawl. You have to try to walk. You have to try to eat with a spoon. So what’s the big deal with TRYING? Surely you’re not going to use that lame excuse about being afraid of failure. Are you?

5) Giving Up Too Soon! ~ I love Kenny Rogers. He’s a popular American singer/songwriter and one of the souls we lost during 2020, before they announced the pandemic. {Kenneth Ray Rogers (August 21, 1938 — March 20, 2020)} One of my favorite songs that he used to sing was called “The Gambler”. I like that song because of these specific lyrics:

You’ve got to know when to hold ‘em.
Know when to fold ‘em.
Know when to walk away.
And know when to run! …

… the secret to survivin’
Is knowin’ what to throw away
And knowin’ what to keep …

That’s life! It may take some experience and some seasoning. But you need to learn that in most situations in this life … it often boil down to 2 choices. You either hang in there OR recognize when it’s time to give it up.

If you learn this … nine times out of ten, you’ll have a wonderful life. I won’t say that you’ll live a life with absolutely no regrets. But you won’t have any regrets because you made these particular choices, because you didn’t make them.

What You Can Learn From "How Stuff Works"

Are you a person who loves trivia? ... who loves to learn all kinds of facts and figures about anything and everything? ... or you like a surprise, i.e. when you stumble across information about possibly some things you needed to know but you you didn't know?


There are a bunch of fantastic websites loaded with that kind of “stuff”.

Three very popular sites are: BuzzFeed, MentalFloss, and Listverse.

But there is one site in particular that, in my opinion, is worth signing up to receive their newsletter via eMail. They have videos , brain games , puzzles , lists , quizzes , advice on money matters, electronics, science, etc.

The site is called “How Stuff Works”.

Here is a sampling of article titles:

OK. Maybe this kind of stuff does not interest you. But that kind of stuff does interest me and it is what drew me to this site. Then the light bulb went off in my head. :idea: Hey! At this site you can also find practical advice, tips, and tricks for writing, blogging, affiliate marketing, and social networking which are my work at home activities that I pursue to make money online.

Take a specific term and direct the search engine to only search the site. For example, if you want to know the articles written about social media, go to the Google search box and type in “social-media site:howstuffworks.com” (without the quotes).

Life Lessons: 3 Shakespeare Quotes To Live By


Have you often wondered if Shakespeare's pen was sharpened by his own personal life experiences or if he was just a guy who was gifted with an extraordinary writing style; was extremely witty, and just had a way with words?

Most of his memorable quotes come from his plays or poems but they're not just words on a piece of paper. They really do have real-life applications for all of us.  Like these 3 quotes.


1. “Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none.”

I think we all agree that this is easier said than done.

Love all? That's insane! When it comes to love, humans are very selective. That would not be so bad if when we made the choice not to love, we simply remained neutral. But many choose to hate instead. However, truth be told, if each person was told that they only had two arbitrary choices in this life - Love All or Hate All – would we not all choose love? Of course! (Unless you're a spawn of Satan. :lol: )

Trust a few? We are born pure, innocent and carefree souls. Then … life happened! If we are fortunate in life, we learned at an early age “the few” who can be trusted. But for some, lack of trust is their defense mechanism. They suspect everybody and everyone is automatically deemed untrustworthy until those people can prove otherwise. Most of the time people like this have been hurt badly by others they did trust and consequently, nobody will ever get the chance to cause them pain again. The self-defense reaction is normal. But know this. Life will be a very heavy burden if you have absolutely no other human being that you can trust.

Do wrong to none? None? You mean NOBODY? But what if ____________? Everybody has something that goes in that blank. EVERYBODY!! And for many people, their justification is always that wrong was done to them first. But in the end, one can not disagree with the wise words of Master Shakespeare. His advice simply stated is just math. “Two wrongs don't make it right.”


2. “This above all: to thine own self be true.”

Who knows you better than you know yourself? Even the people you love and hold dear, who you trust the most and would give your heart to, don't know you better than you know yourself. If you lie to yourself and deceive yourself, without me being a mental health professional, I can predict that you're headed for a mental breakdown. Lying is a bad thing to do. Lying to yourself is the worst thing you could ever do! It will lead to delusion. Delusion is defined as an idiosyncratic belief or impression that is firmly maintained despite being contradicted by what is generally accepted as reality or rational argument, typically a symptom of mental disorder.


3. “The quality of mercy is not strained.
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath. It is twice blessed:
It blesseth him that gives and him that takes.”

This was the first Shakespearean quote that I was required to memorize and I have never forgotten it. If you never hear another quote or read anything else written by William Shakespeare, read these words, keep them in your heart, and embrace every opportunity you get to show mercy. You, the giver, and the one who receives from you, i.e. the taker, will both be blessed.

No really!  Try it!

A Brief Introduction to Arabic Philosophy

I'm an American so if you mention something about or ask me about Western philosophers I would probably be familiar with what or who you are talking about and might even be able to answer the question asked. However, if you ask me about Arab philosophers you will get nothing but a blank stare. That's the reaction you would have gotten before I wrote this article. Now if you ask me I might be able to engage in a short conversation with you.


I don't know why we never studied Arab philosophers in school. After all, wasn't it the Arabs who invented Algebra? They're smart people. Surely we could learn from them. Or … maybe they are just like all of the philosophers in Western civilization. They theorize and philosophize and don't really come up with any answers to anything. Maybe my teachers thought: Eh! You study one philosopher, you've studied them all. LOL.

Anyway, one of my New Year Resolutions is to try to learn new things that I have no familiarity with. I knew nothing about Arab philosophers. But now I know a little bit and I will share it with you.

When you tackle a topic like this the best place to start your research is in a reputable and reliable encyclopedia like the Encyclopedia Brittanica. A perusal of several EB articles revealed the following eye-opening facts:

~ Islamic philosophy and Arabic philosophy, are phrases that are used interchangeably and the beginning of the philosophical movements in the Islamic world dates back to the 9th century.

~ Arabic philosophy combined the Western philosophies of Aristotelianism and Neoplatonism with other ideas introduced through Islam.

~ Al-Kindī is honored as being the first Muslim philosopher. He was known as “the philosopher of the Arabs”. How did he know so much about Western philosophy? Because he was appointed by the Abbasid Caliphs to work alongside his contemporaries, and translate Greek philosophical and scientific works into Arabic.

~ An important distinction must be made between Islamic philosophy versus Islamic theology (or religion). That distinction is that … it is very similar to Western philosophy in that the philosophers sort of try to eliminate God or Divine Intervention from the picture and rely on non-religious secular human reasoning and science to explain TRUTH and the UNIVERSE.

~ In addition to Al-Kindī, others who made significant contributions to Arabic philosophy in the medieval Islamic world include: al-Farabi and Avicenna (Persia); Averroës (Andalusian Spain); and Ibn Khaldūn (Egypt).

~ Curiously, Christian and Jewish thinkers also participated in and influenced the Islamic or Arabic philosophical movements.

~ The first period from the 9th to the 12th (or 14th) century is referred to as classical or early Islamic philosophy. After that time, interest in the movement declined due to lack of supporters. However, there were and are still those who pursued a course of philosophical study to this day.

Floral Diversity: Why I Love the Jasmine Flower

There are three (3) reasons why I love the jasmine flower.

  • Number 1: I love the fragrance.
  • Number 2: When I lived in Miami, Florida, I had a Cuban friend named Jasmine (or Yasmin).
  • Number 3: I like Disney Princess Jasmine.
Yasmin (Arab) or Yasamen (Persian) means “fragrant flower” and the name comes from the Persians and the Arabs.

Do you know how many types of Jasmine flowers there are? According to the Garden Lovers Club, even though there are 200 different species, you can narrow it down to ten (10) types.
1. Common jasmine
2. Arabian Jasmine
3. Asian Star jasmine
4. Cape Jasmine
5. Jasminum mesnyi
6. Night-Blooming Jasmine (Queen of the Night)
7. Pink Jasmine
8. Showy jasmine
9. Spanish jasmine
10. Winter jasmine

I am familiar with Cape Jasmine, but not by that name. What some people call Cape Jasmine, I call Gardenia.

The jasmine flower that I am most familiar with is Common Jasmine, which is a pretty star-shaped dainty little white flower that can make anyone's garden look amazing. This dainty little lady really gets around. “Originally native to Persia and Kashmir, and brought to Europe in quantities via Spain in the 17th century, Jasmine has a long and rich history in several cultures.”

~ The ancient Arabs believed that paradise must have been a place full of jasmine flowers.

~ Historical records indicate that the kings of Persia, Nepal, and Afghanistan had jasmine flowers planted around their palaces.

~ Arabian jasmine is the national flower of the Philippines.

~ Jasmine is also the national flower of Pakistan (but they call it Chameli).

~ In India, the flower is considered a sacred symbol of divine hope, good luck, and optimism. Many references are made to jasmine in the literature of ancient India. There is a reference to this flower in the Kamasutra as an aphrodisiac. It is used in Ayurvedic medicine for migraines, insomnia, and to treat certain skin infections.

~ In China, it represents feminine kindness, grace, and delicacy, and they believe it is a means to attract love and wealth. (In other words, it's an aphrodisiac.) The Chinese use it to scent their green tea and in Chinese medicine to treat headaches, bone pain, and insomnia.

~ In Thailand, it is the symbol of motherhood.

~ To the Indonesians, the flower represents purity, eternal life, nobility, and the beauty of a girl. It is often used in wedding ceremonies and it is a national flower.

~ For centuries, Spanish Jasmine has been cultivated in France and used to make perfumes, and it is vital to the French economy.

~ For commercial purposes (mainly the perfumery industry), jasmine is grown in Egypt, Morocco, and Algeria.

~ In Hawaii, jasmine is called pikake and the flowers are used to make leis or as a garnish for pastries; while the oil is used in aromatherapy.

~ While researching to prepare this article I learned about a movie called “Jasmine Flower” which stars one of my favorite Asian actresses, Joan Chen. Added to my watch list. Has anybody seen this movie?

Jasmine is called the King of Oils and the Queen of Flowers.

Both honors are fitting. Don't you think so?

Floral Diversity: Let's Learn About the Hyacinth Flower

Two topics that a person can always seem to write about are food diversity and floral diversity. I decided to explore floral diversity and share the results.


The first flower that comes to mind that begins with the letter “h” is the Hibiscus flower because I grew up in Miami, Florida and almost everybody had these flowers in their yard.  But I have written more than enough about this lovely bloom from my childhood and published the writing at various social blogging and online writing communities. So I won't write another article about the hibiscus.

Instead I am going to discuss the Hyacinth.



Hyacinth
~ The fact that this is one of my favorite flowers has nothing to do with it being a flower. I love British comedy TV shows. There is one show called “Keeping Up Appearances” and the name of the main character is Hyacinth. The lady who plays the part is Patricia Routledge or should I say, Dame Katherine Patricia Routledge, DBE. Evidently, she is a well-known comedic entertainer in the UK. I only know her from this television series and she is flipping hilarious! Because of her, the flower named hyacinth was added to my list of favorite flowers.

According to the Britannica Encyclopedia, this flower is native primarily to the Mediterranean region and tropical Africa. According to an article published via Old House Gardens, the hyacinth dates back to ancient antiquity and has made its way through gardens in ancient Greece and Rome, and into the Ottoman Empire and eventually into Western Europe. Here is an interesting fact gleaned from that article:

“There is convincing evidence that the hyacinth was cultivated by the Turks for both its fragrance and for ceremonial usage. On the death of Sultan Moerad III in 1595 his mourning son had no fewer than half a million hyacinths planted.”

I was required to learn the history of Western Europe in Catholic high school. But not much was ever taught about the Ottomans other than the fact they existed.

One must be careful because the hyacinth bulbs are poisonous. They contain oxalic acid and so you should handle them wearing protective gloves. The uncooked seeds are poisonous, however, the beans of these plants can be used in cooking. They can be boiled or roasted and you can find many Indian food recipes that use hyacinth beans. (Recipes.) As you can see by the featured image they are a marvelous ornamental flower. But they also have proven medicinal value. In addition to being used for beauty ~ skincare and hair care ~ it has been used to treat cholera, snake bites, and even STDs (sexually transmitted diseases). In traditional Chinese medicine, the beans are used to keep the spleen healthy.

There is a sad story in Greek mythology about a young man named Hyakinthos or Hyacinthus. That's how the flower got its name. As for its symbolism, it has come to “represent prayers, thoughtfulness, messages of hope and well-being”.

Interesting flower huh?

Your Social Media Activity Could Cost You Your Dream Job. Really?

Agree or Disagree. 
Prospective employers should examine a prospective employee's social media activity and make hiring decisions based on their activity.

On the one hand, some people use social media to find their dream job.  On the other hand, some people's use of social media might cost them their dream job.  Potential employers are using social media as part of a screening process for hiring.

On my side of the fence??
I don't know about everybody else but this sounds creepy.  I mean ... I'm not checking my potential employer's personal social media activity.  How do I know my potential employer is not a pervert or psycho?

This doesn't impact me as a job seeker because I'm not seeking employment BUT!!!  ... Huge BUT!!! ... But I have children who are seeking employment and who are or who will be applying for jobs.

America: Yesterday ... All Our Troubles Seemed Just Like Today

Below is a portion of a famous speech given by John Francis Hylan while he was mayor of New York in 1922.

"The real menace of our Republic is the invisible government, which like a giant octopus sprawls its slimy legs over our cities, states and nation. To depart from mere generalizations, let me say that at the head of this octopus are the Rockefeller–Standard Oil interests and a small group of powerful banking houses generally referred to as the international bankers. The little coterie of powerful international bankers virtually run the United States government for their own selfish purposes. They practically control both parties, write political platforms, make catspaws of party leaders, use the leading men of private organizations, and resort to every device to place in nomination for high public office only such candidates as will be amenable to the dictates of corrupt big business. These international bankers and Rockefeller–Standard Oil interests control the majority of the newspapers and magazines in this country. They use the columns of these papers to club into submission or drive out of office public officials who refuse to do the bidding of the powerful corrupt cliques which compose the invisible government. It operates under cover of a self-created screen [and] seizes our executive officers, legislative bodies, schools, courts, newspapers and every agency created for the public protection." 

That was in 1922. 


Not much has changed, has it? 

Admit it. If I had not told you that was spoken in 1922, you would have thought I was describing current events. Wouldn't you?

Life is like a television soap opera. You could be a loyal viewer. But then you stop watching it for a long time. One day you decide to start watching again. When you do start again, you realize that you can practically pick up from where you left off. Because nothing much has changed. 

(NOTE: I actually did stop watching a soap opera once and then started watching it again years later. That's how I know you can pick up right where you left off. That's why I can make the analogy. )
* * * Does America have an “invisible government”? Quite frankly, I believe every country has one. The USA is no exception. Nevertheless, Americans have a Constitution that allows US to publicly govern ourselves.
"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

4 Life Quotes From 2 Sports Legends: Bruce Lee AND Muhammad Ali

Most people who know me know that I am not really into sports. There are certain Olympic competitions that I like to watch such as gymnastics, figure skating, and swimming. And two other sports competitions that I did not mind watching were martial arts and boxing.

That's my introduction for this blog post. I have selected quotes from 2 legends in the sports world of martial arts and boxing whose powerful words influenced and impressed much more than their fighting skills.

Bruce Lee (1940 – 1973) AND Muhammad Ali (1942 – 2016)
They may no longer be with us but their words live on.



I picked just 2 quotes from each man, to extract their wisdom and also to contrast and compare them to each other. The quotes are sensible and can serve as guiding steps for life, whether or not you are in the field of sports.


BRUCE LEE:  “Adapt what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what is specifically your own.”
 
MUHAMMAD ALI: "Don't count the days. Make the days count."

Having followed the careers of both of these men, I can clearly see that they practiced what they preached.

Though Ali's quote does not talk about adapting, his fights in the boxing ring proved that he knew very well how to adapt. If a method he used didn't work, then he would change his style to beat the opponent. He also fought in a way that was like no other. His way of boxing was specifically his own.
The same goes for Bruce Lee. Many people can only try to emulate or imitate him. They can try. His style was specifically his own. To this day he set the “MMA standard” for all other martial artists and everybody else only hopes that they can come close to achieving it.

As far as counting the days, each one of them, in their prime, made sure that not a minute was wasted when pursuing their objectives.

* As for my own personal life application? Early in my life, I accepted that I am a unique individual. I'm unlike anybody else and I'm not supposed to be. That rule applies to everyone. We're not supposed to be like another person. But I also recognized my environment and the people around me and adapted to every situation without sacrificing what makes me unique. My late mother used to say: “Each person has their own gifts and they should use them for good.” Also, I realized that time or tomorrow is not promised to me. So I definitely understand the practicality and the value of making each day count. I determine to spend each day being engaged in fruitful activity. Because I know once that time is expended, I won't get it back.


BRUCE LEE:  “You just wait. I’m going to be the biggest Chinese Star in the world!”

MUHAMMAD ALI: "It's not bragging if you can back it up."

Others may have interpreted their words as self-aggrandizement or conceit. But both of these men proved that they were just stating the facts.

As for my own personal life application? I prefer not to draw attention to myself. So even though I had “gifts”, my mother never said it was necessary to announce that LOUDLY to everyone. I have always worked quietly to accomplish my goals. As long as I knew within myself that if I needed to say something out loud I really could back it up … that was good enough! LOL. :)

The tweet below is not a Bruce Lee or Muhammad Ali quote.  But it is more my style.  Hey!  It's my style.  I added something that is specifically my own (even though a lot of other people do this too):)

Sometimes we are in a situation where we are confronted with so many problems which lead to a point to make a decision whether to lie or not to lie.

This was my response.

A lie is willful and deliberate intent to deceive.

That's how someone explained or defined a LIE to me. They told me to use that as my guide.

Another guide that I use? Jesus called Satan the father of lies.

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”   (John 8:44)

I don't know much, but I do know if there is deception or deceit involved in something you're doing, then it's not good.

If it's not good then it must be bad or evil. Also, I don't like the idea of being one of Satan's children.

So the answer is NO.

A lie is even far more grave and serious than a fairy tale like Pinocchio would lead you to believe. I appreciated the question as it gave me a chance for some and serious thought and reflection.

7 Lovely Logics and What They Mean to Me

Found a wonderful quote-pic which lists "7 Lovely Logics" and indeed they are quite lovely. No doubt, just like me, every person could read them and supply their interpretation of what these logics means to them.

1) Make Peace with your Past, so it doesn't spoil your Present.

This saying is so true. You need to realize that very few people go through life without making mistakes, without doing some things they regret, etc. Nobody is perfect and sinless. There may be people who won't -pic forgive you and choose to make peace with you. But if you can open your eyes every day and find something productive and profitable to do for the Present time that you have, then, DO IT! You can't FORGET your Past. Nevertheless, it's over! You can't go back to relive that time in order to do things differently. But you can make peace with yourself and Carry On.


2) What others Think of you is None of your Business.

Take this advice with a grain of salt. There are those who love you dearly and think very highly of you. They want others to think highly of you too. What they think of you IS YOUR BUSINESS. Listen to them and weigh their words very carefully IF they criticize what you say or what you do. They are very likely telling you something that's for your own good. But as for the HATERS? You don't need to give their words half an ear. IGNORE THEM!


3) Time Heals Almost Everything. Give the Time, Some Time.

I have lived long enough to know that time does heal almost everything. “Almost”. There is some pain you feel in your heart that doesn't heal, no matter how much time passes. The hurt doesn't go away. You just learn to live with it.


4) No one is the Reason for your Happiness, except You yourself.

Don't rely on or depend on others for your happiness and joy in life. But if there is someone or some people who ARE THE REASON for your happiness, count your blessings.


5) Don't compare your Life with others. You have No Idea what their journey is all about.

I wonder if the person who wrote this quote knew my mother. My mom used to tell me that constantly. Don't wish for the life of other people because you don't know what's happening in their lives. I took her advice on this.


6) Stop Thinking too much. It's Alright not to know all the Answers.

I say: There's no such thing as thinking “too much”. You should think as much as you want. But your thoughts won't always produce the answers to all of your questions. And that's OK. Lots of people live their life with unanswered questions. They still live!


7) Smile. You don't own all the Problems in the World.

Smile BECAUSE you don't own all the problems in the world. I would also like to add some advice that I once heard from a psychologist. She said: Recognize when the problem is YOUR problem and YOU need to solve it. Don't take on somebody else's problem and make it your problem. If it's their problem, they need to solve it.
