MY Comments:

A candid critique of America's healthcare system, exploring the roots of obesity, the neglect of chronic disease, and the urgent need for reform. It and challenges leaders like RFK Jr. to prioritize the health of ALL citizens.

It is rare that obesity is the result of genetics or an illness. Americans eat a lot of food. Because we have an abundance, we don't practice moderation. That's the crux of the matter.

As for chronic disease, this is a health matter that should be thoroughly examined. But We the People must hold our breath, hoping and praying that RFK Jr. actually does the job he's been tasked to do.

As for the health system failing? Other countries have healthcare systems that don't fail their citizens. Instead of treating health like health, in the USA, it's treated like Big Business. AMERICA HAS NO EXCUSE FOR FAILING ITS CITIZENS. The health of all citizens should be a PRIORITY!! But it's not! Quality healthcare is for those who can pay for it and for overweight presidents.

Revisiting the Brown v. Board of Education (1954) SCOTUS Decision 70 Years Later

Brown v. Board of Education (1954) is a landmark Supreme Court case in the United States that addressed racial segregation in public schools. SCOTUS led by Chief Justice Earl Warren, ruled unanimously that racial segregation in public schools was unconstitutional. The Court held that "separate but equal" facilities, a doctrine established by the earlier Plessy v. Ferguson decision in 1896, were inherently unequal and thus violated the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment. This decision was a crucial moment in the American civil rights movement, but NOT a “shining moment” in American history.  Let me 'splain WHY.

This is true. The historic Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of Education (1954) did not extend BEYOND the scope of public schools.  How convenient!

This is NOT a “shining moment” in American history; particularly, with respect to historic decisions made by the Supreme Court. But it does shine a light on the lengths people who hold a position of authority will go to make sure “certain people” stay on TOP while “certain others” are kept down, have doors closed in their faces, etc. It's a "convenient “tool” to ensure that oppression, unfair discrimination, and inequality are BUILT INTO THE SYSTEM. 

The history of legal decisions made in America, from the Supreme Court, all the way down to the lesser courts is PROOF of this country's HYPOCRISY.

Whereas the pledge of allegiance and the constitution use words to PROMOTE and PROMISE ideals like justice, liberty, and equality … the legal decisions show that WE THE PEOPLE DON'T PRACTICE WHAT WE PREACH!!

Although … to be fair ... not all Americans are hypocrites. Some of US really do believe those words in the pledge and the constitution.

But it is a very "inconvenient truth" when the ones who are hypocrites are in positions of authority and power. The Brown v Board decision is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. An extremely accurate historical record for US ALL.

Thoughts About Euthanasia, Abortions, and Botched Executions

After reading, I left a few comments.  My thoughts shared at the article are also published below.  I would like my comments to be seen by my JDV blog visitors, who don't visit the Medium platform.

I've always been curious about euthanasia.

I have heard stories about abortion clinics. Sometimes when the fetus is surgically removed from the womb, it is late enough in the pregnancy that the little baby human has a heartbeat and lungs. In other words, the baby removed from the womb is ALIVE! The babies even cry. In those cases, they place the living babies in a dark room and let them LITERALLY … CRY THEMSELVES TO DEATH!!

Some might think that's not murder. Some might say it's a type of euthanasia, a mercy killing. After all, the baby wasn't wanted in this world anyway! So what if they survived a violent abortion? You know? SO WHAT!!

So suppose when administering euthanasia for a full-grown person ~ a senior citizen, a middle-aged adult, a young adult, a teenager, or a person of any age, old enough to be living outside of the womb. Suppose after whatever it is that the doctor does to put the patient to death … THEY DON'T DIE!!

What should be done? Take a sledgehammer and bash the person's head in. Take a sharp blade and chop off the person's head. Throw them off the top of a skyscraper.

DID YOU KNOW? Prisoners on death row have survived lethal injections or other forms of botched executions.

DID YOU KNOW? If the death row prisoners survived their execution, do you know that there are people who would argue that the law should not allow another attempt to execute. Because it would be “cruel and unusual punishment”.

What would be the law of a person SURVIVED A MERCY KILLING?

Yeah yeah yeah … there were official bona-fide health records with doctors and nurses certifying up and down that that patient was never going to make it! They were going to dwindle and wither away in great pain and agony. We all know records kept by human beings can never be falsified. Right?

We all know that family members would never contemplate getting rid of another family member because taking care of them is not only expensive, but burdensome and inconvenient. Family will always show mercy when it's their family. Right?

* Have you ever thought that some deaths that have occurred by way of LEGAL euthanasia were NOT actually and genuinely for the sake of showing mercy to the poor suffering individual?

* Have you ever wondered about how many people would “conveniently” die from legalized “mercy killings” if euthanasia were legal all around the world?

If doctors really had the power over life and death, why is it they usually tell families and loved ones: “I've done all that I can do. Now we just have to wait.” OR "I've done all that I can do. But I couldn't save them."

Death with dignity? Uh huh.

Euthanasia is really just Murder dressed up to look like an act of mercy.

Life and death are acts of God.

LOL. People need to realize that “governments” of almost all of the countries LIKE TO PLAY GAMES! They work on Top Secret projects that they can't openly talk about it. WHY? Usually it's because they don't want The Enemy to know. Sometimes, it's because they don't want the citizens to know. It might cause OUTRAGE!! Because sometimes citizens are like parents. They just don't understand.

However, seeing that we all live on the same planet, there is always a possibility someone might accidentally, unintentionally, stumble upon a TSP (Top Secret project). If and when they do, there has to be a “story” that must be FED by the Government to the GP (general public).

UFO … UAP … mentions or sightings equal BOGUS STORIES that sound kind of believable. Those stories serve a purpose. The purpose being to take your mind off of the real top secret project and get you talking and speculating about something that does not exist. Why do you think nobody has ever presented concrete evidence or proof of aliens? Because there is none!

Here's the reality. The people who work on those projects sign a Confidentiality Agreement. That means they're sworn to secrecy. If they try to break the agreement and tell somebody? The Government has “ways of dealing with people like that”. What? Will they kill you? Oh no! They'll just make you look like a blithering idiot and an individual who lacks credibility. We know NOW that Galileo was not crazy! I'm sure they knew it back then during his time. But they still put him away!

Am I saying the UFOs or UAPs are not real? Not at all. I'm saying they are real. And … if they don't belong to US, then they belong to The Enemy. If they belong to US, we have our reasons for not wanting the public to know. If they belong to The Enemy, we obviously don't want them to know that we know!!

Admit it. My logic is flawless. LOL. ☺

** For the record, "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (the original with Michael Rennie (1951); not the remake with Keanu Reeves (2008)), will always be my favorite movie about aliens and UFOs.

Thoughts About Russia as The Enemy and the Possibility of World War 3 (An American's Perspective)

Yes we know Russia is not seen as The Enemy by Asia or Africa.

But there's still Australia, South America, Europe, and North America.

These are AI-generated answers. (The parenthetical notes are my interpretation.)

AUSTRALIA: “While Russia and Australia are not outright enemies, their relationship is characterized by significant tension and limited cooperation, especially in the current geopolitical climate.” (That means, we don't really want to fight. So don't piss us off! If war breaks out we don't have to take your side, you know?)

SOUTH AMERICA: “Russia is not considered an outright enemy by South American countries, but rather a strategic partner for some and a geopolitical player for others. The relationship is characterized by a mix of cooperation in certain areas and competition with U.S. influence in the region.” (That means it's all about our economy and who can offer better financial opportunity and growth.)

My additional thoughts?

The Bible says “The ways of the nations are in the Hands of God.” Frankly, I just believe it's God's way of keeping a “balance of power” between all nations. That way none of the nations will get too cocky and try to rule the world. Cause we all know what happened when crazy conceited clowns decided they wanted to build their EMPIRES. Hopefully, we learn lessons from history.

P.S. “Casualties of war” have always been unimportant no matter who is fighting who. That's why they came up with the phrase “casualties of war”. It's a euphemism for: “YEAH A BUNCH OF INNOCENT PEOPLE WILL BE KILLED. BUT SO WHAT! IT'S WAR!!” Then they point fingers of blame and say: “They started it!”

WAR!  What is it good for?  

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

SAY IT AGAIN!!

NO MORE WORLD WARS? Let's hope not. 

Most people are hoping that nuclear weapons will keep everybody in check. So far we only know of nine (9) countries currently have nuclear weapons: Russia, United States, China, France, United Kingdom, Pakistan, India, Israel, and North Korea. No countries in Australia or South America? Who knows? Maybe they have them, but it's a secret!

Are You Ready to Trust Dr. AI? (My Answer to This Question)

I don't have any problem with "Dr. AI". The technology is not the problem. The misuse and abuse of technology is the problem.

And who can misuse and abuse technology? HUMANS!

So it all boils down to whether or not people in the healthcare profession have ethics and morals, mercy and compassion ... i.e. humanity.

Because all the technology in the world can't replace the mind of a person who is dishonest and has no integrity. Whether they use AI or not, you're putting your health in their hands.

The thing is ... you can't always spot a doctor who is disguised as “Dr. Death”, who is misdiagnosing you intentionally, to make merchandise out of you.

Several years ago, I lived in a US city where there was an article in the newspaper about doctors who were deliberately misdiagnosing patients, making them sicker, and then re-diagnosing them (after their condition had worsened) so that they could continue to treat them for a longer period of time. Why cure your patient on their first visit, when you can keep them coming back over and over again? Disgusting isn't it? Sad, but true.

Artificial intelligence is just a tool to be used in conjunction with human intelligence.

But nobody has figured out how to program the intelligence of a person to be a DECENT HUMAN BEING!!

Are the Kids Labeled as Gen Z Hopeless? (My Answer to This Question)

Alex Phillips published an article via Medium.com titled "Gen Z Are Destined To Fail! : Heres How To Break Free From The Gen Z Curse.". It is an excellent read. After reading I left a few comments.  My thoughts shared at the article are also published below.  I would like my comments with my JDV blog visitors, who don't visit the Medium platform.

My granddaughter likes to laugh and say since she's Gen Z, she's hopeless. If it's just a silly joke, no problem. But I do hope she know that she is precious and where there is life, there is always hope.

That being said, I'd also like to say that “every generation blames the one that came before”, per Mike & The Mechanics. Or to borrow words from Billy Joel “We didn't start the fire.”

Every generation faces “something”! Gen Z is no different from any of the other generations. Whatever demons arise they have to take them on! You either learn how to think for yourself and stand on your own two feet … OR __________. I'm not sure how the blank will get filled in for each individual, but it won't be good.

History should be taught AND wisdom acquired from history lessons should be passed down from generation to generation. It's the least that one generation can do for the next generation. That Billy Joel song is PACKED with history lessons.

Do Souls Exists? (My Answer to the Question)

As a member of the Medium.com writing community (view my writer's profile), not only do I enjoy writing content but I also enjoy reading and commenting on the articles of my fellow writers.

Aurum Archon published an article titled "Do Souls Exist?". It is an excellent read and he shares many informational links in his article for further exploration. After reading I wanted to leave a few comments.  On Medium, responses to comments appear on your profile but they are not counted in your list of stories.  I often re-share my comments with readers who visit my blog.  When it comes to the question of the existence of souls, almost everybody has thoughts about this topic.  The comments below are my thoughts.

"Only two things in life are certain: death and taxes." LOL.

Some people say they don't believe in God or a Higher Being. But they believe in science, i.e. something that can be proven. God can not be proven therefore God is not real. To me, that's kind of a humorous way of thinking or analyzing because most scientists supposedly make great that are discoveries that are even named after them.

However, what they discovered was already there. The scientists never explain WHO put it there or how it came to be. The so-called great scientific discoveries are often “accidental”. It makes me wonder if God or the Higher Being has watched from a distance as they diligently searched for answers and explanations and had pity. And God said: “If I don't show them how this or that works, they're never gonna figure it out for themselves.”

That being said, I remember a man who wanted desperately to scientifically prove the existence of the soul. He had a dying man hooked up to a machine that would measure the change in the person's body immediately after their death. He would conclude that any change recorded by the machine “might be” PROOF the soul existed.

As it so happened immediately after the person died the machine did record a change, but it was so small, so tiny, that it was practically “un-measurable”. Nevertheless, the person performing insisted that it “might” have proved the existence of the soul. Of course, there would be others in the scientific circles who disagree with his conclusion, So now other scientists can debate whether the experiment really proved the soul's existence and the debates can carry on back and forth until Jesus comes. LOL.

Anger Management: Is It OK to Be Angry?

Is it OK to be angry?  Sure!

Getting angry is a natural emotion and reaction.
- Taking out your anger on others is NOT!!
- AND …?? And there is no EXCUSE or REASON for you do it!

IF the source of your anger is social media or constant negativity and your anger is a result of this, that's easy to fix. Don't get on social media AND ignore the negativity. People have “turn off” buttons in their brains!

IF the source of your anger is economic hardship … Do you think you're the ONLY ONE having a hard time?? WELCOME TO THE CLUB!! A lot of people all around the world are experiencing economic hardship. Angrily yelling, screaming, and attacking someone else is not going to fix it!

IF it a mental health matter, GET HELP! Granted, that might be easier said than done, but it's not impossible to do!

(Let me preach a little bit.)

When it comes to people thinking they're suffering, they need to look around them: Do you know why? The Bible says: “Nobody is enduring any temptation that isn't COMMON to man.”

COMMON? That means almost EVERYBODY is going through crap!!

Do you think when you see another person smiling, that it's all good? Maybe yes or or maybe no. That's none of your business!

What is your business is you not taking out your anger on another person. That's under YOUR CONTROL.

Holidays and Celebrations: Why I Don't Celebrate Kwanzaa?

The holiday or tradition called Kwanzaa celebrates seven (7) principles:

* Unity

* Self-Determination

* Collective Work and Responsibility

* Cooperative Economics

* Purpose

* Creativity

* Faith

It was established by Dr. Maulana Karenga, a professor of Black Studies at California State University, Long Beach, USA.  Many people who do not consider themselves African-American or of African descent do not celebrate this holiday.  In other words, *It’s a black thang!*

It’s not really.  Just look at the principles in the list.  *Are they not applicable to all humankind?*

Kwanzaa is celebrated from December 26th through January 1st.

Like the Christmas holiday, it also includes gift-giving, a gathering of family and friends, and good eating!

There are those who object to or disagree with celebrating Kwanzaa.

They feel that instead of promoting unity, it encourages division, more specifically racial division.  Some say it was just made up for people who don’t want to celebrate Christmas and don’t want to acknowledge Jesus Christ or Christianity in any way.  There are other reasons but these two have been mentioned most often.

Here's why I don’t celebrate Kwanzaa.  

My reasons are very practical.  By the time the Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas holidays are over, I’ve usually run out of money!  Also, it was not a tradition I grew up with and since I practice the Kwanzaa principles so many other ways in my life already, I see no need to add on a new holiday.

I think that Peace and Goodwill could have been incorporated into the list of principles.

However, one might argue that those principles are under the umbrella of “Unity”.

OK!  I wouldn’t cause a division or split hairs over it.  

Overall, I like the concept of this holiday and can appreciate the symbolism. Especially!  I really like the candles.  I’m a candle lover!

Corruption is a Cancer and Some Countries are Sicker Than Others (An Opinion Piece)

“Why is corruption so hard to remove in our country?”

This question was asked by a person on Facebook. The question and the answer they provided were country-specific. They were discussing the present situation in India and presented an outsider’s point of view on why corruption is an accepted way of life in that country.

I am also an outsider. I live in the United States and have never been to India or to a lot of other places in this world. (Never even been to California.) That doesn’t stop me from having a point of view and my perspective is not country-specific. It’s a world view.

Corruption is a cancer that exists all around the world. ALL countries get sick from it. Some countries are more sick, more than others. But no country is immune to corruption.

In fact, there is no place on earth where people live in a community with rules that should be followed for orderliness, settling disputes, punishing wrongdoing, and living a peaceful happy life, where corruption won’t rear its ugly head. Once it happens …

CORRUPTION is hard to remove in ANY COUNTRY!

How does corruption occur? It’s the G-men!

We won’t include organized crime, cartels, gangs, and thugs in this discussion. Let’s talk about the other G-men. Not “G” for gangster. “G” for government officials.

First, the corrupt person (one lone individual) provides “fake promises” that will dutifully serve the people; knowing full well that they really only intend to serve themselves and help themselves to whatever they can get!

Once The Corrupt get into their positions and hunker down, they have absolutely no plans for leaving. EVER! Not only that, they surround themselves with supporters who get treats and rewards for “being naughty” FOR THEM.

They build a stronghold of “invisible soldiers”. Invisible? Yes. Quite often you don’t know who’s serving who. It’s not like these people walk around wearing a badge that identifies them.

Then there are those who are NOT supporters but they are too afraid to do anything or speak out against the pernicious acts of the G-men because they fear for their lives or the lives of those they love. It’s just a matter of self-preservation.

As complicated as the matter is, when faced with corruption there are only 3 solutions/choices.

Fight, Flight or Stay.

Fight. Stand up for your rights and demand change. Some use force, weapons and violence. Some use peaceful nonviolent methods. Either way. THEY FIGHT!

Flight. Leave and go live elsewhere. Hey! Home Sweet Home is wherever you can build it. Mr. Von Trapp was a wealthy man (according to the movie “Sound of Music”)’ but he took his family and left the country anyway!

Stay. Live with it. Not everyone has the physical and mental strength to fight. Not everyone has the means to leave. If you can’t leave and you feel you’re not strong and/or brave enough to fight, then you acquiesce. You resign yourself to the fact that corruption in your daily life is the “normal” and you take each day as it comes. There is a tiny bit of hope buried deep down inside of you that maybe one day you’ll be delivered from evil.

Even though corruption is hard to get rid of, it’s not IMPOSSIBLE!

The purveyors and perpetrators of corruption can be brought down. I would say brought down low. But The Corrupt are already LOW! They just take their seat in high places.

Cause and effect. If one can eliminate the cause, one can eliminate corruption.

Most people think Divine intervention is too slow, so often a military overthrow is the solution.

But well-known singer/songwriter Sting says that he “never saw a military solution that didn’t end up as something worse”.

So why is it so hard to root out corruption?

Simply put … the root cause of corruption is … Brother Against Brother.
