Artists I Fancy: I LOVE ART! (But I am not an art connoisseur.)

I love art. But I'm not an official art connoisseur. 

An art connoisseur is an informed specialist who evaluates art details, techniques, styles, and provenance authentication rather than just casually enjoying a piece.

I prefaced this short post by explaining what an art connoisseur is, so that I could explain that's what I'm NOT. 😊😄

I'm sure I'm just like most people. When I look at artwork, I'm not looking for any special art style or a particular artist. I look, and then decide if I like it or don't like it.

Most of the time, I can't afford to buy the art piece I'm looking at. So I have to be satisfied with admiring it from a distance.

I discover the "artists I fancy" in various ways.

• EXAMPLE: I recently watched a Korean drama, "Fated to Love You", and the main character was an artist. But I really liked the art, so I researched to find the real artist.

The artwork was created by the real Korean artist Youk Shim Won, a well-known Korean painter and illustrator.

I searched everywhere and finally found the art piece that caught my fancy in the Korean drama. Someone shared it via Pinterest.

The art of Youk Shim Won has been described as whimsical. 

I love whimsy!

ANECDOTE:

One of my friends is a real artist, although art is not her chosen profession. She creates art simply because she loves it. One time she showed me a watercolor painting she had made. I told her it was beautiful. Then she placed the painting behind a transparent blue-tinted covering. The painting itself didn't change at all, but my reaction to it changed immediately.

Without the blue tint, the scene felt hot, as if the sun were shining brightly overhead. You felt like you needed a hand fan.  But with the blue tint, it felt like dusk. It was as though the sun was setting, and the same scene suddenly became calm, soothing, and comforting. I felt relaxed. No kidding! That's when I learned that even something as simple as displaying artwork through a tinted covering can completely transform the mood and emotional impact of a piece. Isn't that incredible?

No doubt being an art connoisseur is a cool profession.  But it's just as cool not being one.  Everyone can appreciate art.😄
