Olympics Female Track and Field Always Bring Back Memories of Flo-Jo

Every time I watch the female Track and Field competitions in the Olympic games, I can't help but think of this lady. Her family said, unlike most toddlers, when she was 2 years old, instead of walking, she was running!!! Sorry to say she left us too soon.  In memory of:  Florence Delorez Griffith Joyner (1959 - 1998) also known as Flo-Jo, was an American track and field athlete. She is the fastest woman of all time ...

😊💞

33 years later, and we’re all still chasing Flo-Jo’s records

Flo-Jo

I remember the first time seeing Flo Jo compete in the Olympics track and field competition. If there was an Olympic medal for being a fashionista, she would have won! She was a stunning beauty and the sports outfits she wore made her look like she had her own fashion line. It was amazing just to look at her before the race! But when you saw her running … she was breathtaking!

Artists I Fancy: Alfred Alexander Gockel

Many people have a combined passion for art and jazz.

♦  Contemporary Artist Alfred Alexander Gockel Loves Jazz and His Art Shows it!

Alfred Alexander Gockel was born in 1952 in Ludinghausen, Germany. He published his first work when he was only 8 years old.  Mr.Gockel says of his work: “I like to touch the viewer’s soul with my vibrant colors.”

His art collection is subdivided into two major categories: unique artwork and graphics. Today he is one of the most prolific distributors of modern art posters, with customers in 50 countries.

Gockel was commissioned by the U.S. Olympic Committee to create an official piece of artwork for the 2006 Olympics in Turin, Italy, which is titled USOC Olympic Celebration.

Gockel’s unique style of “boldly colored abstract images lined in thick black against a white canvas“ has become his signature.  He was named 2011 Official Artist of Top 10 Jazz Festival and his jazz artwork is super cool.  He had humble beginnings and he is still humble now even though he has earned and can enjoy the prestige of a famous artist.

Alex (as he likes to be called) has devoted admirers in about 50 countries. They have described his art style as reflecting the influence of Picasso and having “many moods”.  Whoever influenced his style did us a favor and whatever his moods, I like them all!

♦  Were I to describe the man’s art is one word? MESMERIZING!

Spontaneous Jam; and Stroking the Keys – are two of my personal favorites.
