This Means War! Versus Make Love Not War!

"Of course, you know ... THIS MEANS WAR!!"

The only time that line is ever funny is when Daffy Duck says it to Bugs Bunny.

Recently perused 3 articles about the history of knighthood. Specifically, they were about 3 orders of knights: Order of the Teutonic Knights, Hospitallers Knights, Knights of the Sword. Fascinating reading. Thought-provoking as well. These are the thoughts they provoked within me.

It's just an observation but … a society can have lots of unemployment and yet if it's to organize a military FORCE, men can always show up for work! I'm not being sarcastic or calling the guys lazy bums. Indeed the reason they show up to enlist is because they are not lazy and they have a sense of duty and loyalty to their family, if not to their country.

I just think it's awful that during *peacetime* people borrow, beg and scrape, and can't get gainful work to feed their families. But you let some head honcho in the government shout *THIS MEANS WAR!* and all of a sudden there's money and they are ready to pay anybody to go get KILLED!!
Peace

Sorry. Had to spill that and get it off my chest. I'm a child who grew up in the 60s where people were always shouting *Make love not war!* instead of *THIS MEANS WAR!*  Some folks in subsequent generations including the millennial generation (who are often wrongly accused of being self-centered and whiny) also believe in giving peace a chance.

My most wished for item is always PEACE.  Yours too.  Right?  You can't buy it on Amazon or anywhere else.  But perhaps you can perform an act of charity as way of sharing your wish for peace and goodwill to all.  Buy a child a toy.  Donate clothing.  Prepare a food basket for a hungry family.  Gift a book.

The One Word That Describes Nearly Every War - Express Yourself! - Medium

When I am not blogging at one of my blogs or contributing my two cents at forum discussions, you can find me writing articles or editing articles for Express Yourself!, my Medium publication.  Several writers have signed up to contribute articles for this publication.

Cody Trusler is one of those writers.  He wrote an article titled "The One Word That Describes Nearly Every War".  It's a thought-provoking read.  In fact, it provoked these thoughts which I shared as a response to his article but I am also repeating via this blog post because ... ???  Because I feel it bears repeating.

The one word that can end all wars is LOVE. But it can’t just be a word. It must be an ACT.

It's funny that you used the words “comedic explanation” because I was laughing as I was reading the paragraph just before seeing these two words. When you began your next paragraph, I'm like: “How did he I was laughing?” LOL.

But your use of the other word “superpower”? That's not a joke.

Why is that people have no problem understanding that a superhero is fiction. But they insist on believing that being a superpower, as opposed to having superpowers, is real.

A SUPERPOWER IS NOT REAL! It's a figment of man's imagination. Just like superheroes.

Dear Leaders: Look at the facts.

There were and are nations who could and can boast that they have the largest military force IN THE WORLD! But does that stop other countries from looking at them from a distance and thinking: 'Eh! They must have a weak spot somewhere.'

That's why when a large military force tries to approach the country with a smaller military force, the country with a smaller force starts strategizing.

That's why there's such a thing as a WAR ROOM!! Those military geniuses get together and say “You not even gonna bully US!! How many soldiers we got? How much weaponry? Where are our allies? Etc. Etc. Etc. It's not war. It's self-defense. On the 'outside' it just looks like war.”

Don''t you see Mr. or Ms. Leader with the Goliath-complex? Trust me on this.

If you really were a real superpower, EVERYBODY WOULD ALREADY KNOW!!

There would be NO WAR because everybody would be too scared to fight YOU!

Really!
