Did Sister Maria Talk in Code or Speak for the Devil?

In 1676 A.D., a nun, Sister Maria,  who claims she was “possessed” wrote a message she claimed came from The Devil. However, nobody could read it because it was written in cryptic symbols that nobody knew how to translate. 340 years later, in 2017, a team of computer scientists based at the LUDUM Science Center in Catania, Italy, managed to unravel the mystery. They used a decryption program which they found on the dark web.

*** “The scientists thought Sister Maria had perhaps created the code using a blend of existing alphabets. And thanks to her years of exposure to religious scripture, the nun had been a skilled linguist with knowledge of both ancient and modern languages. So it was that the experts’ theory proved to be right.”

A lot of it was just incoherent babbling. But some of the sentences formed specific thoughts. Evidently, IF she had written or spoken those words in plain language, she would have been accused of heresy and quite possibly burned at the stake. Now that they know what the letter said, using an understanding of modern psychiatric medicine, mental health professionals have written Sister Maria off as a schizophrenic. It wasn't The Devil's handwriting, it was her own.

Now The Spooky Letter Has Been Translated | Scientific Mirror” By Richard Arghiris, Nov 16 2021 ~ https://web.archive.org/web/20220219182310/https://scientificmirror.com/s/1676-possessed-nun-message-devil-letter-translated?as=799&bdk=0

This article is fascinating reading. For some reason, after finishing the detailed account of Sister Maria, the article writer decided that, for contrast and comparison, the story of Saint Bernadette, a teenage girl who claims to have had visions of the “Immaculate Conception”, Mary, the mother of Jesus, should be told as the conclusion of the matter. He seemed to think that Bernadette's story was much more intriguing than that of Sister Maria.

Wisdom of Marcus Aurelius, Emperor of Ancient Rome vs The Movie 'Gladiator' (2000)

EMPEROR MARCUS AURELIUS ~ Ancient philosophy or psychology?

Roman emperor and Stoic philosopher Marcus Aurelius (April 26, 121–March 17, 180) kept a notebook (like a diary or journal of sorts), his Meditations.  It has been translated and annotated by the British classics scholar Robin Waterfield.  I might have titled the notebook “Anger Management Techniques”.

“First, don’t be upset. Nothing happens that isn’t in accord with universal nature, and before long you won’t exist at all, just like [your heroes]… Second, fix your gaze on the matter at hand and see it for what it is, and then, keeping in your mind your obligation to be a good man and the demands of your humanity, go right ahead and do it, in the way that seems to you to be most just. But do it with kindness and modesty, and without dissembling.”

The emperor basically said KEEP YOUR COOL!!

The Stoic Antidote to Frustration: Marcus Aurelius on How to Keep Your Mental Composure and Emotional Equanimity When People Let You Down – Brain Pickings

ENTERTAINMENT TRIVIA:  The movie "Gladiator" (2000) which starred Russell Crowe did not present a true historical picture of Marcus Aurelius.

"Marcus Aurelius really was a Roman Emperor for about 6 decades (161 - 180). He was a scholar who adhered to Stoicism, and reflected his view and perspectives about life in a writing called “Meditations”. Although he was a philanthropist and introduced social reforms, he did not like the Christians.

History says that Marcus Aurelius did nominate his own son to succeed him. Aurelius died in March 180 and Commodus – full name: Lucius Aelius Aurelius - was 19 years old when he came to the throne. He reigned from 180 - 193. He was a mad tyrant who believed himself to the reincarnation of the demigod Hercules and that he somehow possessed superhuman strength. The people did not like him at all and they tried to kill him many many times. Each failed assassination attempt was met with some serious payback consequences. In the end, he was murdered by a hired gladiator."

Anger Management: Is It OK to Be Angry?

Is it OK to be angry?  Sure!

Getting angry is a natural emotion and reaction.
- Taking out your anger on others is NOT!!
- AND …?? And there is no EXCUSE or REASON for you do it!

IF the source of your anger is social media or constant negativity and your anger is a result of this, that's easy to fix. Don't get on social media AND ignore the negativity. People have “turn off” buttons in their brains!

IF the source of your anger is economic hardship … Do you think you're the ONLY ONE having a hard time?? WELCOME TO THE CLUB!! A lot of people all around the world are experiencing economic hardship. Angrily yelling, screaming, and attacking someone else is not going to fix it!

IF it a mental health matter, GET HELP! Granted, that might be easier said than done, but it's not impossible to do!

(Let me preach a little bit.)

When it comes to people thinking they're suffering, they need to look around them: Do you know why? The Bible says: “Nobody is enduring any temptation that isn't COMMON to man.”

COMMON? That means almost EVERYBODY is going through crap!!

Do you think when you see another person smiling, that it's all good? Maybe yes or or maybe no. That's none of your business!

What is your business is you not taking out your anger on another person. That's under YOUR CONTROL.

Are You a Bad Parent?

Oh no! I was a bad parent! However, to my credit, I did not do Number 3 and play the Guilt Trip card. Also, I did not do Number 6 and called them a derogatory names to belittle them. My kids are all grown now and I hope they have forgiven me of all my child-rearing sins. ♥️

Psychology, the Zodiac and Dominant Personality Traits

Do you like quizzes? Like those personality quizzes geared at enlightening you as to the kind of person you really are.

I like taking those kinds of quizzes. Strictly for amusement. Not to explore myself inner self and learn new things about me, because having spent 6 decades on this planet, if I haven't figured out who I am by now, I might as well stop wasting time and put that “project” on the shelf. It's never going to get done!

Below are some fun links.

You can save the link and take the quiz later when you're bored and need a distraction.

I haven't gotten around to taking the quiz yet because:

(A) No fun time! I have been very busy with my work at home projects; and haven't had a minute to become bored. By the end of the day, I'm worn out and I watch something on TV or online, that requires no effort and will make me weary enough to wind down and fall asleep.

(B) Another reason is that the quiz is based on the Zodiac and if I'm being honest, I don't have any faith in the Zodiac. I'm supposed to a Sagittarius and even though this article found at another site ~ "7 Best Sagittarius Traits" ~ describes my personality traits to a "T" … I say that was just a lucky guess!

(C) According to Dr. Abraham Maslow (1908 – 1970), who was a psychologist: “Self-actualization, in psychology, is the process of understanding oneself and developing one's capacities and talents. It is the ability to realize fully one's potential.” (Quote source: Create Your Own Rainbow and Own It! ) I agree with Maslow on this point; and I am convinced that the position of the stars at the date and time of a person's birth can not prevent an individual from developing their own unique personality.

(D) Finally, I already know what my 6 dominant personality traits are: prayerful, patient, persistent, persevering, passionate, prayerful.

The “prayer” trait is repeated twice – at the beginning and at the end. A double portion of this trait is necessary to help me develop and maintain the other 4 traits.

How about you?
Do you know what your dominant personality traits are?
