Auto History: Awesome Tweets About Classic Cars

In 1998, my late husband and I loaded up the trucks and relocated our family to Austin, Texas.  The first major expense that occurred shortly after we arrived was buying a car.  When I say “shortly” I mean that we had only been in the city for not even a few months.  My son was driving our old car.  He had an accident.  He walked away but the car went to car heaven.

Back then we were a one-car family and since the public transportation system in Austin was not all that good, we knew we needed to get a car and fast!  We could not afford a brand new car so we bought a used car.  The first thing that happened after we bought the used car was … it broke down!  Being brand new to the city we didn’t really know who to call.  I picked up a local publication, started browsing through it, and found the name of a guy who advertised that he fixed cars, 24/7 and that he came to you.  We were in a hotel.  He came to us to fix the car, in the parking lot!

I called the phone number in the advertisement and talked to the guy before he came over.  When I hung up the phone, I said to my late husband:  “That guy sounds awfully young.  Do you think we can trust him to fix the car?”  My husband replied:  “Aw!  Don’t worry!  He’s probably one of those guys who like to work on classic cars.”

Turns out the young guy was terrific when it came to fixing cars.  It also turns out that he was one of those guys who liked working on classic cars.  LOL.

That delightful experience is why I picked these delightful tweets about classic cars.

Do You Care About the Memories of Your Ancestors?

Am I dreaming about my ancestors' memories? Or ... this question could be rephrased:

  • Do I believe in genetic memories?

What a fascinating thought! I never even thought of it. (O.o) :) I'm pretty confident, however, that's not what my dreams are not the dreams of my ancestors.  That's not what my dreams are made of. :)

Sharing a link (below) to an article titled:
The idea expressed in this article before becoming unpublished was very visual ... very imaginative ... very thoughtful.  It could probably even create dreams.  But as for the dreaming about the dreams of my ancestors?  Nah!

Not so much interested in the memories of my ancestors. But I would love to know what the memories of unborn babies are.  The following thoughts/questions were provoked by a New Testament scripture describing what happened when Mary greeted her cousin Elizabeth.  Elizabeth, at the time, was with child.  She was carrying her unborn son who would be named John and would come to be known as John the Baptist.  It is said that when Mary greeted Elizabeth, at the sound of Mary's voice, the babe leaped in his mother's womb.  (Luke 1: 41 -44)  The scriptures also state that John the Baptist had the Holy Spirit from his mother's womb.  (Luke 1: 15)

I thought:  What else can unborn babies do?
  • Can unborn babies think?
  • Do unborn babies have memories?
  • Are they intelligent human beings just like the rest of us who were blessed to be reproduced and born without disruption, interruption, and interference?
LUKE 1
41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

Remembering September 11, ... Years Later: My Remembrances

Remembering September 11, ... Years Later?
This is what I remember.

There are no words to express my sorrow for the memory of what happened in America on September 11, 2001.  I can remember where I was on that day.  At work at the Austin State Hospital in Texas.  I remember running into the work lunchroom area where I knew there was a television.  I remember watching a tragedy on television and thinking that my eyes ere playing tricks on me.  I remember seeing a news report showing the exact location where former President George Bush Jr. was on that day.  I remember the sober, somber, stunned look on his face when someone whispered in his ear what had just happened while he was at a school visiting young children.  It wasn't a horrific mass shooting at a school.  Instead, it was a horrific terrorist attack on American soil and thousands of people - not just Americans citizens - were killed or injured.  I was not alive on December 7, 1941, Pearl Harbor Day.  I remember thinking this day will be the "day that will live in infamy" for this generation.  As of today, September 11, 2019, I am remembering that on that day and on this day I was and I still am hoping and praying that we never have another day like September 11, 2001.

What do you remember?

Obituary for Charles Nathaniel Fox (1951 - 2019)

Charles Nathaniel Fox was called to return to his Creator on December 1, 2019.

Born October 27, 1951, in Nassau, Bahamas. He was the only child of Cecil and Edna Fox. His father has passed on but his mother still lives in the Bahamas. From his tender years, he was attentive to the scriptures and at age 10, he was baptized and added to the Lord's body. He worshipped with the saints at Highbury Park Church of Christ until he became a young adult.

In his early twenties he decided to leave the country of his birth and come to America. At this point in his life, there were 2 decisions he had made which he never regretted. The first decision was to become a baptized believer. The second decision was to come to America because that's where he met his wife.

Married December 30, 1976. He was a loving and devoted husband and father for forty-three years. The husband of one wife, his surviving spouse, Treathyl Vandie Fox. Their union was blessed with 11 children: Isaaiel Fox; Charniel Fox; Gabriel Fox; Michael Fox; Daniel Fox; Michel Fox-Kennell; Kahmeel Fox; Samuel Fox; Sherrel Fox; Raquel Fox; and Janel Fox. He is survived by all of his children, along with several grandchildren, and a great grandchild.

In his life, he strived to use the talents and skills that God gave him to accomplish good. He was content with whatever blessings he received, and was more than happy to assist others if he was able to. He tried as best he could to instill his faith in his children, so that they would know The Way and how to find their way. He honored his marriage vows and faithfully loved and cherished his wife in sickness and in health, through difficult times and joyful times. He humbly acknowledged his failures and shortcomings, confessed his faults, and always sought his healing and guidance from God's Word. This was his approach to dealing with anything and everything in this life. These particular scriptures kept him anchored:

And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water ... assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.” (Matthew 10: 42)

See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.” (1 Thessalonians 5: 15)

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12: 2)

He will be missed.

Celebrating Graduation: When did you suddenly realize that you were an adult?

“There is a good reason they call these ceremonies 'commencement exercises'. Graduation is not the end; it’s the beginning.” ~Orrin Hatch ( Quote Source )

When did you suddenly realize that you were an adult?

Do you remember the day you graduated from high school?

High school graduation is a particularly special time for a teenager. They are getting ready to make life decisions for themselves, on their own. No more asking permission to go out. You're about to be fully in charge of your social schedule, your academic responsibilities, and …??? … you might even have to work!!

How did I know I had graduated and had officially entered the adult world?

One day, at my part-time college work-study job, one of the office workers announced it was break time and asked me if I wanted some coffee.
That was it! My transition into adulthood. At that moment, it dawned on me that the decision was mine to make for myself! My mom's permission was not needed to drink coffee. Growing up, in our house, children drinking coffee had been forbidden. Obeyed that house rule from about 5 years old until my teen years. Never even thought to disobey my mom.  :)

When did you suddenly realize that you were an adult?

I graduated from high school in 1972 and had made a decision to pursue a degree at a university in my hometown.  Every time I see a class of high school seniors the memory of my own graduation ceremony comes back to me.
●  For the record, although sports is not my thing, I do know who Shaquille O'Neal is and FYI … Shaquille O'Neal Earned His Doctorate from Barry UniversityThe very same Barry University where my high school graduation ceremony was held. Just thought to mention it!
